A superb HL Leonard model 38-H, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. 3.4 ounces. Serial #2288 (1973). Mint uncast condition. This was the most popular Leonard model and, as a consequence, most of them were well used. That makes this one very unique indeed. Medium fast action. Blond cane with three up node pattern. Red 326 Main wraps with purple and red edges at the keeper and male ferrules. Black stripper and black snake guides. The step ferrules are polished and fit perfectly. The medium cigar grip is 5" long. The reel seat is a cap and ring and the wood is hand-flatted and varnished butternut. The polished butt cap is stamped “H.L. Leonard Rod, H.L. Leonard Rod Co., Makers”. The tips are perfectly straight. The yellow poplin bag has a stiffener. The brushed aluminum tube with Leonard data sticker is in the best shape I have seen for a 50 year old rod. This one won’t last long.
