Here we have a lovely R.W. Hoffhines - 6'8" 3wt 2/2 hollow-fluted bamboo rod. Serial no. 217. Completed in March 2017. The rod is in mint condition. The taper is based on an FE Thomas Fairy rod. The rod is handsomely tempered in a style the maker calls "tortoise shell" flaming. The guide wraps are a transparent caramel color. The winding check is also caramel but with black, black and gold jasper, and burgundy tipping followed by 6 bands of a chestnut colored thread. The ferrules are wrapped in burgundy with caramel and burgundy tipping followed by 2 bands of the chestnut colored thread. The tip-top wraps are caramel with one and two bands of burgundy tipping respectively. The wrap scheme gives the rod a classic appearance, paying homage to its FE Thomas pedigree. Blued guides. Amber colored agate stripping guide. A generously swelled butt that looks fantastic on this petite rod. Blued hexagonal nickel silver winding check. Cigar grip 5 7/8" in length that feels just right in the hand. Blued cap and ring reel seat with a mortised maple burl spacer. The underside of the butt cap features a bullseye pattern - similar bullseyes featured on Thomas rods. The blued step-down ferrules are size 10/64, the fit is perfect. The rod has a medium-fast action and weighs a mere 2 7/8 oz. Includes original bag and tube with brass fittings and label. - We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
