A Homer Jennings bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #417.
An impressive rod from Homer's hands. Small pressed nodes, mirrored tips, great varnish. Fast semi-full flexing action. The rod has been lightly used - no casting cracks at the ferrule wraps and some soiling to the grip. All sections are straight and ferrule fits are good. Light blond cane with a 3-up node pattern. Tips as stated are mirrored. The main wraps are light tan with cinnamon edges on all. The stripping guide is a red agate and the snakes are chrome. The Swiss ferrules are truncated and the ferrule wraps are brown. The grip is 6" long and is a blunt cigar heavily weighted to the front. The reel seat is a nickel silver downlocking screw-ock with a mortised, varnished, tiger maple insert. The rod bag is tan colored cloth and the rod tube is a dark olive anodized aluminum with brass fittings.
