For sale here is a Gary Howells bamboo rod. 8 feet for a 6 weight in the standard 2/2 format, labeled 4 1/8 oz. Serial number 4717 delivered in the early 1980s. I wouldn't hesitate using a DT5 on this rod even though it's labeled a 6wt. One of the tip sections appears to be a later replacement (by Mr. Howells) and the other one is definitely original to the rod. The node spacing on the tips is different, 2x2x2 vs. 3x3. The replacement tip as a fraction shorter than the original tip as well. Other minor differences exists (aged color of silks, guide glue). Carbide stripping guide, wrapped in brown thread with gold trim. Payne style cork grip, up-locking reel seat with gorgeous zebra spacer. Includes original red bag and labeled aluminum tube. Label is in excellent condition as well. Varnish is in excellent condition with only a couple of minor chips. All rod sections are straight. The listing price basically reflects a one-tip rod, so don't miss this opportunity to acquire a very nice Howells rod for a very reasonable price!!

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
