A Jim Schaaf rendition of the Dickerson 8014 model bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #4 line. "The Dickerson 8014" and serial number "80-6-99" are lettered on the butt on successive flats. The rod weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale. Lightly used condition with a little bit of soiling to the grip. Medium-fast action. The rod is straight and the ferrule fits are good. The cane is a medium-light wheatstraw and the nodes are done in a three up pattern. The rod is wrapped brown with black tipping throughout, including four signature wraps halfway between the keeper and the stripping guide. Both tips are inked "80-6-99" and "DH" (the original owner's initials) on successive flats just above the male ferrule wrap. Oxidized step ferrules. The grip is 6" long with a semi-western profile to it with some moderate soiling. The reel seat is an aluminum downlocking screwlock seat over a varnished wood spacer. The butt cap has the maker's stamp on the opposite side of the pocket. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and an aluminum tube with brass fittings (the original owner's name is engraved on the top of the cap) and the data sticker affixed to it. The tube also has an orange outer rod tube bag.
