For sale here is a Marty Karstetter hollow-built bamboo rod - 8'3" 2/2 for a 4 or 5 weight line with a marked weight of 3 1/2 oz. Serial #22315. The rod is in near mint condition appearing to have only been lawn cast. All sections are full length and reasonably straight.
Beautiful, moderately tempered cane with 2x2 node spacing and transparent caramel colored wraps. Chestnut tipping at the winding check, ferrules, and tip-tops. The ferrules are wrapped in jet black. Lightly blued guides. Agate stripping guide. The script is clean and bold. E.C. Powell influenced modified full-wells grip 5 7/8" in length. Simple and elegant blued nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a gorgeously figured mortised walnut spacer. "Marty Karstetter Maker" is stamped into the butt cap. The butt cap shows light wear around the edge from being taken in and out of the bag. The Swiss-style ferrules have a perfect fit, nice and snug. The actual weight of the rid is 3.45 oz. The action is on the faster side of medium-fast with a stout butt and delicate tips. A very versatile action well suited for just about any trout situation you can throw at it. Includes the original bag and tube with Karstetter label.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.
