An RW Lancaster "Bow River" model bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tips, for a #5 or #6 line. Serial "4456UNTJB". I could find no sign that this rod has been anything but lawn cast. This is Mr. Lancaster's rendition of the Para 15 taper and is a powerful full flexing action that I suspect I would prefer with a #6. Medium chestnut colored cane that is mottled in places, and the nodes have a random-ish distribution throughout the rod. The rod has a very light finish, perhaps oil or a very very light varnish. Simple wire keeper. Light honey wraps. Oxidized ferrules. The grip is all cork and ventilated in the Paul Young style with a sculpted thumb pad. The reel seat is all cork as well with twin knurled rings, and the bottom of the rod has a slight flared bulb to keep the rings on and reveals a cross section of the cane in the bottom end. The rod packs into a red tartan cloth bag and a dark crackle paint aluminum tube with brass fittings.
