For sale here is an H.L. Leonard "Golden Shadow" 9' 4wt two-piece graphite fly rod. Serial no. 8358. The rod is in excellent condition though it does show some minor aesthetic wear from time and use. Both sections are full length and void of repair.
The rod features a woven graphite blank with gold wraps and orange tipping at the winding check. Bright guides. The white script remains bold and legible. Ring hook keeper. Classic cigar grip 5 1/2" in length with mild soiling and very light ridging in places. Bright nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a mortised rosewood spacer. There is minor wear to the rim of the butt cap. The spigot ferrules fit together nice and tight as they should with a small gap between sections to allow for wear over time. Both ferrules are fitted with a nickel silver collar for extra strength and durability. The rod weighs 2.35 oz. The action would be considered medium by today's graphite standards. This gives the rod much more feel, finesse, and delicacy - a wonderful dry-fly rod for those tricky casts. The rod includes the original bag and tube.
