For sale here is a pre-fire, H.L. Leonard - Model 66 8' 6wt 2/2 bamboo rod. The rod is in excellent restored condition. All sections are full length and straight with the exception of a very slight set in one of the tips. The pencil marks used to line up the guides while wrapping were unfortunately not erased before varnishing. Also, there is a very slight upward bend to the stripping guide. The rod features classic, Leonard straw colored cane with transparent bright red wraps. Blued guides. The restorer opted for a stamped "model 66" (see pictures) as opposed to inking be hand. Handsome, mildly swelled butt. Bronzed, ring hook keeper. Bright nickel silver, sculpted winding check. The original cigar grip, 5 1/2" in length, was retained. The grip is lightly soiled, light ridging can be felt. The grip is free of chipping, hook gouges, or other defects. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat with a lightly varnished butternut spacer. The bright, nickel silver, step-down ferrules are size 12/64, the fit is perfect. The ferrules have indented witness marks for easy alignment. The rod weighs 4 3/8 oz. The action is on the faster side of medium-fast, a bit faster than most Leonards. The rod is smooth with a good deal of backbone. The rod is well suited for medium-larger sized rivers where far and fine casts are made, streamers are thrown, or where wind can be a factor. The rod includes a replacement bag with dowell stiffener, the original hang-tag has been retained. Also includes original tube with label. - We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
