For sale here is a pre-fire H.L. Leonard - Model 40 Fairy Catskill 8' 3/2 4-5wt bamboo rod. The rod is in very good+ overall condition. The rod has had an overcoat of varnish in areas but retains the original wraps. There is an invisible repair wrap on one of the tips just below the tip-top. Unfortunately the stripping guide wraps became brittle with time and the guide fell off, it will be included with the rod. There are also a few small areas of bag burn, they could more than likely be polished out. Transparent golden/amber colored wraps. Red tipping at the winding check. Bronzed, reverse twist, english style guides. The guides are rather small by today's standards, as they were designed for use with silk line. Ring hook keeper. Agate stripping guide. Sculpted nickel silver winding check. Petite cigar grip 4 1/4" in length. The grip is soiled and displays slight ridging. Bright nickel silver cap and ring reel seat with a handsome, mortised butternut spacer. The ferrules are size 8/64 and 13/64, the fit is good. Retained with the rod are the nickel silver ferrule plugs, usually lost over time so a nice bonus. The action is a smooth medium-slow with delicate tips. The rod weighs a svelte 2.95 oz. Included is the original bag with the hang-tag intact and original tube with brass fittings.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
