A very scarce Lyle Dickerson 861610 model bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 2-tips, and built for what feels like #5 line (I might like it with a #4 as well). The Dickerson ledger shows only two of these made, a rare model indeed. This one was refinished by Jim Schaff when he owned the Dickerson shop and the butt section was reglued with resorcinol glue, so you can see the lines a little bit more than with the rest of the rod. Each of the tips also has a clear wrap: one about two inches down from the tip and the other slightly larger one about five inches down. The action is a little bit more moderate than a typical Dickerson and certainly pleasing to cast. The rod has all of the hallmarks of typical Dickerson style including the caramel colored wraps with black tipping, nicely oxidized step ferrules (which fit nicely) and the trademark downlocking screwlock (the barrel and ring are aluminum while the cap is nickel silver). The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and aluminum tube with brass fittings. Despite the reglued butt and protective tip wraps, this rod is a rarity indeed and belongs in a nice Dickerson collection.
