An exceedingly scarce Maurice Noel M506 fly reel, 3 7/8" diameter and set up for RHW. Mr. Noel made this reel around 1995, and only five of them were ever made. It boasts an interesting and inventive drag adjustment mechanism, whereby the drag pressure is altered via a crossbar that sits near the reel foot. Slide the crossbar toward the foot to reduce the drag, slide it away to reduce the pressure. I can't recall seeing another mechanism like it, quite interesting! The reel boasts a spool width of approximately 1" and the reel weighs 13.3 ounces on my scale. Excellent lightly used condition with some minor cosmetic wear throughout the reel, but none of which is particularly noteworthy. The reel boasts a titanium, matte gray frame and spool with black sideplates. The front plate boasts the maker's name and model in a subtle script, while the bright spindle cover on the back plate features the maker's name and location engraved lightly in it. The drag mechanism is incredibly strong when set to the maximum level. No bag or pouch. An extremely interesting reel. It's unusual to come across something that I have never seen before, and handling this one is a treat. A terrific find for anyone who loves great salmon reels!
