Maxwell Leonard 48-5 Fly Rod 7' 3/2 #5

A Maxwell Leonard Hunt 48-5, 7' 3-piece 2-tip for a #5 line. Serial #80100. Excellent DF action. Super condition lightly used rod in a rare and very useful length and line weight. Still has the plastic cover on the grip. There is a tiny bit of edge wear to the butt cap but that is the only discernible sign of use I can find.  Flamed cane, agate stripper, dark garnet wraps with 3 wind-aways at the keeper and male ferrules. Superb varnish. 10 cork slim cigar grip. The mortised curly maple reel seat wood is recognizable as one of the rods I worked on at Leonard. I remember, many years ago, baking about 100 reel seats in the tempering oven to achieve this light caramelized color, which you can spot in many photos of Leonard rods. All fittings and hardware are oxidized pewter gray. Later Leonard die stamp.  All sections straight and tight. Original bag and brass top aluminum tube. A great model here for the Leonard enthusiast.
