For sale here is one of Tom Maxwell's personal fishing rods. Five feet nine inches, three sections with two tips for a three weight line. All sections are full length and straight. All nickel silver cap and ring reel seat. The diminutive cigar grip measures four inches. Ferrules are 13/64 and 9/64 and tip tops are 4/64. Medium fast action. Excellent plus condition. The rod weighs 2 3/8 oz. South Creek Ltd. re-wrapped the midsection female ferrule and one the tip's male ferrules because the old threads were frayed. The new silks match perfectly. I didn't clean the grip because of the DNA attached to it! The bag and Heddon tube may be what Tom used, but I cannot confirm this and they are both too long for the rod.
This rod comes from the estate of Charlie Robinson from Pennsylvania, who apprenticed under Tom Maxwell late in Tom's life and ended up with many rods such as this one from Tom's personal collection. We are selling other rods from the Robinson family as well and you can find a link to themhere.
This sale will include a letter of provenance from the Robinson family.
