Mike Clark Gierach/Best Special Taper Fly Rod 8'6" 2/2 #6 [SALE PENDING]

A Mike Clark South Creek "Gierach / A.K. Best Special Taper Rod", 8'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Serial #200726. 4.9 ounces. This rod has both Gierach and Best's signatures on it, and I'm told it is the only one, done at the request of the original owner. Used condition with soiling to the grip and a tiny bit of wear to the inner snake guides. The action is semi-full flexing, almost down to the grip. The cane is a very light flame with dark patches adjacent to the nodes in a spiral pattern. Super light finish. The main wraps are brown with flecked edges on all. Agate stripper. Swiss style ferrules. The tips are mirrored. There is a ferrule plug for the butt. The grip is 7” and turned to a Western and composed of 1/4" cork. The cap and ring seat is stabilized red wood burl. The hardware sports a rope knurl and is engraved. The butt cap is engraved: "South Creek Ltd., Rodmakers, Lyons Co." The rod packs into a blue cloth bag and a leather case with the original owner's name engraved on a brass plaque.
