Okawa-san crafted this rod from "Torafu" bamboo which naturally has a slower action and mottled appearance relative to standard tonkin cane. Beautiful york gum burl grip. Silk wraps are color-preserved YLI medium gray with black edges...a stunning contrast with the cane. 24K gold plated hardware. Rod weighs 4 1/4 oz. Medium parabolic action. Exquisite varnish work! The crest like tortoiseshell is the first feature of TORAFU. TORAFU is a variety of HACHIKU. This lives in Susaki in Kochi Prefecture in Japan. If this TORAFU is transplanted to another land, ordinary HACHIKU will grow.
