Orvis "99" Bamboo Rod - 7'6 5wt

VFT3399

For sale here is a 7'6" Orvis Model 99 bamboo rod. Two sections with two tips. Serial #25491 built in April of 1959 by Reid & Skinner. Medium dark browntone impregnated cane with deep burgundy wraps. All script remains intact. Cigar grip is only lightly soiled. Classic, Orvis aluminum down-locking reel seat with fine wood spacer shows only minimal wear. Rod is in overall excellent condition though both of the tips have been re-wrapped in a much brighter red than the original burgundy silks on the butt section. Blued ferrules and guides. Size 13/64 ferrules (usually they are 14/64 on the Model 99). The fit is perfect. The action is on the faster side of medium fast, and is very crisp and authoritative. This would make a nice all around trout rod but will excel at throwing dries. The tube label proposes a DT6 line (HDH), but a five also works very well. The rod weighs 4.05 oz. Comes with original bag and tube with label 90% intact.
