For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Battenkill 8' 2/2 5wt bamboo rod. Serial no. 58055. Made in 1970. The rod remains in excellent+ mostly original condition. The rod was sent to Orvis in 1982 to have the ferrules re-wrapped (original repair form included with rod, see picture). Someone has also placed a light varnish overcoat on the wraps of the first guide up on the second tip. All sections are full length and straight.
The rod features moderately tempered cane with chestnut wraps and bright guides. The script remains clean and bold. U-shaped hook keeper. Classic cigar grip 6 1/2" in length with average soiling. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over a walnut spacer. The blued ferrules have a perfect fit, nice and smooth. The action is a versatile medium-fast well suited for just about any situation involving a trout. Though the rod is labeled as a 6wt a 5 weight line will be best. Most Orvis rods tend to do better with a line size or two down. The rod weighs an even 4 oz. Includes the original bag and tube with blue and silver foil label.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
