For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Battenkill 8 1/2' bamboo rod with two sections and two tips. Serial no. 75231, made in 1975. The rod is in near mint original condition appearing to have been fished very little if at all. All sections are full length and straight.
The rod features darkly tempered cane with caramel brown wraps. Bright guides and blued ferrules. The script remains clean and bold with the varnish remaining intact. Oddly, the serial numbers appear lighter than all other areas of the rods. U-shaped hook keeper. Cigar-style grip 6 3/8" in length with only the lightest soiling. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over a walnut spacer. The ferrule fit is excellent. Labeled weight is 4 3/4 oz. Actual weight is 5 oz. The action is a wonderfully smooth medium-fast. Though the rod is labeled as an 8wt, a 6wt line is better suited in my opinion. Includes the original bag and tube with green and silver foil label.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
