For sale here is an ultra scarce bamboo rod made by Orvis in 1976 - the Caenis model. The Caenis model never appeared in Orvis' regularly published catalogs and was sold through their newsletter called "The Orvis News".There are currently only twenty-six known to exist in Greg Reynold's fantastic and highly useful Orvis Rod Database, along with five of the Yamame Special models, the same rod that was marketed in Japan.
The rod measures 6'9" with two sections and two tips and is designed for a three or four weight line. This particular example, serial number 78805, is in near mint condition showing very little use. The rod weighs 2 1/4 oz. Ferrules are size 10/64 and the ferrule fit is excellent. Dual knurled aluminum slide bands over an all-cork reel seat, brown wraps, bright guides, blued ferrules. Staggered ferrule design. Comes complete with its original tan bag, grey aluminum tube with engraved hexagonal cap, and green and silver foil label.
Truly one for the Orvis collector!
