For sale here is an Orvis "Powerflex" 8'9" 7wt boron graphite fly rod - 2 piece. Serial no. 0989. The rod is in near mint condition with only the lightest handling wear keeping from being considered mint. The rod features a staggered ferrule construction. The butt section is 3 1/2" shorter than the tip section designed to create a specific action.
The rod features an unsanded blank with royal blue wraps and bright guides. U-shaped hook keeper. Ceramic stripping guide. Sleeve over ferrules with a nice and tight fit as it should be. The Western-style grip measures 7" in length with only the lightest of marks on the cork. Removable 1 3/8" fighting butt. Black anodized aluminum up-locking reel seat over a walnut spacer. The action is medium-fast by today's graphite standards. The rod is capable of considerable finesse and accuracy while still providing strength and a good deal of power. Perfect for streamers and big bushy flies. Don't miss out on this fantastic vintage graphite with a wonderful action you'll be hard-pressed to find in a modern graphite rod. Includes original bag with quail and trout pattern and sleeve for the fighting butt as well as the original tube with brass fittings.
