For sale here is an impregnated Orvis "Superfine" 6 1/2' 5wt bamboo rod with a marked weight of 2 1/4 oz. Serial no. 65688. Made in 1972. The rod is in excellent original condition. All sections are full length and straight.
Moderately tempered cane with caramel wraps. The wraps and varnish remain in excellent condition. Bright guides, carbide stripper. The petite 5" cigar grip is moderately soiled though it remains very smooth. Dual aluminum sliding ring reel seat over a mortised cork spacer. Aluminum "button" butt cap. The blued step-down ferrules have a perfect fit. The rod's actual weight is 2.40 oz. The action is a medium-fast dry-fly capable of considerable finesse and delicacy. Though it is labeled as a 6wt a line size down is usually best with Orvis rods. Original bag and tube with silver and green foil label. - We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.
