For sale here is an Orvis "Western" 9'3" 8wt boron graphite fly rod - 2 piece. The rod is in near mint condition with only the lightest handling wear keeping from being considered mint. The rod features a staggered ferrule construction. The butt section is 3 3/16" shorter than the tip section designed to create a specific action.
The rod features an unsanded blank with royal blue wraps and bright guides. U-shaped hook keeper. Ceramic stripping guide. Sleeve over ferrules with a nice and tight fit as it should be. The Western-style grip measures 7 3/8" in length with only the lightest of marks on the cork. Bright aluminum up-locking reel seat over a walnut spacer. The action is medium-fast by today's graphite standards. The rod is capable of considerable finesse and accuracy while still providing strength and a good deal of power. Though marked as an 8 weight a 7 weight line might also suit the rod. Perfect for streamers and big bushy flies.
