For sale here is a Paul French bamboo rod. 8' 2/2 for a 4/5 weight. Paul French built most of his rods (not many) in the 90's and at that time was a student of Darryl Whitehead. He built very exquisite rods and those fortunate enough to own one tend to hold on to them. This one is still original, full-length and in excellent condition. The rod is based on a Dickerson 8013 taper. Medium/fast action. Medium color cane with a gently swelled butt and very handsome spiraled node pattern. Beautiful burled maple uplocking reel seat with gorgeous nickel silver rings engraved by master gun engraver Paulo Barbetti. Dark brown wraps tipped black. Blued snake guides and tip tops. Super-Z ferrules and western style cigar grip. A tiny mark on the butt section (in the photos) and some old glue around the reel seat hardware is all I could find as far as disclosable conditions. Other than that, typical wear marks from use. Both tips have very minor fishing sets which could be easily straightened. Comes with original bag and tube. The brass tube cap is hexagonal-shaped.
Most of the Paul French rods on the market came from one collector and once this handful of rods are sold, you may not see one for quite a while. These rods and their balance of quality construction, striking cosmetics, and affordability make them very attractive in my opinion.
