A very rare Payne indeed! This rod comes with the original tube and bag, along with a tag stating "7'6", 2 3/4 oz, Parabolic". Wrapped brown with yellow edges and a band of red at the keeper and male ferrules. The snake guides show very little wear. The butt section sports a beautiful #8 Perfection stripping guide. Original ferrule plug. The grip and seat are all cork, the grip a blunt cigar and the reel seat with a sliding band and a cap with "Payne, reg. US pat. off" stamped into the pocket. Ferrules are tight and tips are straight and full length. The ferrules and seat hardware contain 95% of their oxidation. Medium slow action. There are a few things to note about this rod: first, one tip has a clear wrap on a cracked node between the bottom two guides; second, the extra tip has a possible issue above the second guide from the bottom (this may just be a heavy watermark); third, the butt section has a cracked node between the top guide and the ferrule; fourth, the tip tops have a different style hoop, so it's possible that one may have been replaced at one point; and lastly, there are some slight guide shadows (barely perceptible) on the rod, indicating that it has been professionally refinished. The refinish job has clearly been done by an excellent rodmaker however, because the workmanship is superb. A great opportunity to scoop up an exceedingly rare Payne.
