For sale here is a Payne Model 204L-H bamboo rod -- 8 1/2 feet with three sections and two tips. The rod is in excellent++ and masterfully-restored condition. All sections are full length and straight. Jack Coyle gets credit for one of the best restoration jobs I've seen on a Payne rod.
Moderately tempered cane with chestnut wraps and black tipping. Black, gold, and purple tipping at the winding check and male ferrules. Blued hardware throughout. Agate stripping guide. Ring hook keeper. Nickel silver winding check. The reverse half wells grip measures 5 7/8" in length with moderate soiling and a bit of light ridging. Bright aluminum up-locking reel seat over a Spanish cedar spacer. The locking ring bears the "Payne" trademark stamp. The ferrule fit is excellent. Actual weight is 5.25 oz. Medium-fast action and feels best with a DT6 line. Especially well suited for streamers, big stoneflies, etc. but will also lay down a size 22 midge with finesse and accuracy.
Includes the original bag with original hang tag intact as well as the original tube with brass fittings. Don't miss out on this rather rare Payne model!
