For sale here is an E.F. Payne Model 209 -- 9′ 3/2 dry fly bamboo rod for a #6/7 line. The rod is in excellent refinished condition with a few cosmetic issues. At some point someone attempted to touch up the casting cracks causing the varnish to bleed under the crack. Also, the bluing on the butt-section female ferrule and the mid-section male ferrule has been re-applied and appears darker than the remaining of the blued hardware components. All sections are full length and straight. Reel seat hardware is stamped "Sold by Abercrombie and Fitch New York". Up-locking reel seat over a Spanish cedar spacer. The seat and spacer are in wonderful condition though there is one light scratch in the spacer. Wraps are chestnut brown with red tipping, with red and gold tipping at the winding check. The original 209 models featured red, gold, and purple tipping at the winding check and male ferrules. Handsome matte varnish finish. The grip has been cleaned and is slightly ridged. The ferrules are size 11/64 and 17/64 with an excellent fit. The rod weighs 6 1/2 oz. Includes original bag and tube. This rod is ready to fish and does not require any repairs.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
