An EF Payne Parabolic model fly rod, 7'9", 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #5 line. 4 ounces. Very good used condition. All full length and nice, tight ferrules. The rod was revarnished by Walt Carpenter leaving intact the original wraps and guides. The rod looks to be late 1950's to early 1960's vintage as it has the perfection stripping guide and the finial ferrule plug but the pocket cap has the "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch" rather than the "Made For" stamp. The cane is browntoned by flaming and oven tempering and the wraps are brown with yellow edges with a purple band at the keeper and the male ferrules. The re-varnish is superb, flawless. The ferrule oxidation is 100% and the seat ring and pocket cap are 98%. The grip is 6" long, done in a medium cigar profile, and very clean. The cork reel seat adds another 4". The pocket cap is stamped "Payne" in a cartouche, "Reg US Pat Off", and on the reverse "Sold by, Abercrombie & Fitch Co, New York". In my hand this rod feels a bit tighter than other parabolics I have felt and is in remarkable condition considering it is 60-65 years old. The rod comes with the true finial ferrule plug and the original poplin bag with the hang tag. The original tube has a small dent and the brass top has a gray felt insert.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
