Here is a brand new, very limited edition "44 Special" fly reel from Perfection Fly Reels, under the leadership of our friend Fred Balling. The reel embodies all of the quality and elegance of the vintage first model Meek 44 fly reel, circa 1900, built by Kentucky watchmaker Benjamin F. Meek.
The reel diameter inside the pillars is 2 3/8", the interior width is 1 1/16" with a recommended line weight of 4 to 5 weight. Right-hand retrieve.
German silver faceplate construction as well as the winding arm, check spring, handmade screws, sculpted pillars, and footplate. Titanium spool flanges, naval bronze center axle, ceramic bearings, stabilized shed deer antler winding knob.
In late 2014, a very limited edition of these gems was made in a machine shop in Winsted, CT. The reel is in new condition and comes with reel pouch, box, and papers. Don't miss out as not many reels out of this limited edition are still available!
