For sale here is a rather scarce Pezon et Michel "Sterling Normale" 7'2" 4wt 2/1 bamboo fly rod. The rod is in excellent original condition. Both sections are full length though there is a slight set in the tip. The tip was made 1/2" shorter than the butt section.
Moderately tempered cane with unique gold wire wraps and black wire tipping. Black wire at the ferrules and tip-top. Alternating black and gold pattern at the winding check and signature wrap. The butt section features a white plastic sheath that fits over the cane just above the winding check, firmly glued in place. The rod information is written here. Bronzed guides. Aluminum winding check. Full-wells grip with only light soiling. The grip is free of gouges, cracks, etc. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat with a cork spacer and chrome butt cap. "Pezon et Michel Paris Amboise" is stamped on the back of the butt cap. The ferrules are unusual, different from those normally seen on P&M rods. They are Swiss style, pinned and seemingly made of brass. The fit is excellent. The males ferrule slides measure 15/64 while the cane itself measures 11/64; another unusual feature of this rod. The rod weighs 3 1/2 oz.
The Sterling Normale was made in two different actions, a normal and a competition. This rod is the normal action. The action is a swift, full flexing medium-fast. Included is the original bag with P&M label. It did not come with a tube.
