For sale here is a John Pickard Model 7613 -- 7'6" 2/2 5wt bamboo rod, his rendition of the classic Lyle Dickerson 7613 taper. Made in 2009 with Dickerson's equipment, ferrules, reel seat fittings, and pre-embargo cane. The rod is in near mint condition; there are some light blemishes in the butt cap. There is also a very small chip in the varnish at the ferrule on one of the tips. All sections are full length and straight.
Transparent dark honey colored silks with black tipping. Blued guides and ferrules. Mildrum-style stripping guide. The script remains clean and bold. Loop-style hook keeper. Hexagonal tiered aluminum winding check. Reverse half-wells grip with a very shallow taper 5 7/8" in length. The cork is quite smooth and of wonderful quality. Dickerson aluminum down-locking reel seat over a walnut burl spacer with a nickel silver butt cap. The step-down ferrules are size 13/64 with an excellent fit. The rod weighs an even 4 oz. Powerful dry-fly action on the faster side of medium-fast.
Includes original bag and tube with brass fittings. Mr. Pickard is a true master of his craft as this rendition certainly lives up to the original 7613. This is apparent not only in the attention to detail but also the terrific action. Pickard's rods are rarely seen for sale, don't miss the chance to own one in exceptional condition. You will not be disappointed.
