For sale here is a Tony Maslan-era E.C. Powell 8'6" 2/2 5-6wt semi-hollow bamboo rod. B-9 taper. The rod is in near mint condition. All sections are full length and straight. Honey-toned cane mostly with some natural color variation. Gold wraps with full intermediates. Black and creme tipping at the winding check. Bright guides. Ceramic stripping guide. Snake guide-style hook keeper. Written on the rod is "E.C. Powell Rod Co." as well as "Pat. No. 1932986", which is Powell's patent for hollow building filed on May 12, 1931. A link to the patent here.

The rod features the characteristic Powell half-wells grip. The cork shows only light handling marks. Aluminum up-locking reel seat with a classic black bakelite (or delrin?) spacer. There is a faint scratch across the spacer. The rod weighs 4 1/4 oz. The action is medium-fast. Includes original bag and tube with the "Yuba City" label fully intact.
