For sale here is very scarce limited edition rod. The Walton Powell "Hexagraph President" segmented graphite rod. 9 1/2 feet, 3 piece rod with two tips, marked for lines 8 through 10. The rod is in near mint condition with only slight evidence of having been lawn cast. There are no abrasions or marks to the rod's surface. The rod weighs 4.85 oz. Up-locking aluminum reel seat. Tapered german silver ferrules. 6 1/2" E.C. Powell style cork grip. Ceramic stripping guide insert. Tight fitting ferrules. Medium fast action, capable of throwing a lot of line with pinpoint accuracy. The rod comes with its original leather presentation rod tube and original green bag. This is number 93 of the limited edition run of 200 made in 1994. I don't know if 200 were actually made and am very doubtful he reached that number. The Presidential series Hexagraph 3pc rods with leather tubes used to sell new for $1,800. These rods were hexagonal like a cane rod but were made with triangular strips of foam backed by graphite.
I've not seen one before on the resale market, so don't miss out on acquiring this fine piece of Powell family rod history. Interestingly enough, these rods were also used in the shadow casting scene of the iconic movie "A River Runs Through It". You can find Harry Briscoe's article on the history of the hexagraph rods here.
