For sale here is a James Reid 8542F 8'5" 4wt 2/2 bamboo fly rod in a rarely seen ferruled configuration. The rod is in excellent+ condition. The rod is described as a "Light trout" model on Reid's website. The rod features medium-light colored cane with an impregnated finish. 3X3 node spacing. Olive colored wraps with black tipping. Blued hardware throughout. Salmon colored agate stripping guide. The grip shape is Reid's signature modified full wells style, sometimes described as "evening gown". The grip is in excellent shape with very little soiling. Nickel-silver cap and ring reel seat with a very handsome stacked, mortised bamboo spacer. The rod has an understated beauty, not at all flashy. The Swiss-style truncated ferrules are size 13/64. The fit is nice and tight as it should be. The action is on the faster side of medium-fast and the perfect balance of authority and delicacy, truly a well-rounded light trout rod. Serial number 1508; tips numbered 1 and 2. The rod weighs in at 4 1/4 oz. Comes with original J.M. Reid embroidered rod bag, and original rod tube with label. An outstanding trout rod from an exceptional modern maker.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
