A superb Robert K. Bolt fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 line. Serial #1808. Mint condition. Medium action, my favorite of all Bob's rod actions. There are a lot of neat, well-crafted details throughout this rod, made possible by the fact that Bob makes all the parts himself. For instance, we have a neat little stamp on the screw lock barrel depicting the hollow-built butt section. Another touch is the stamp on the screw lock nut "R.K. Bolt, Maker" which lines up with the barrel mortise when screwed all the way to the bottom (reminiscent of Payne's famous attention to detail with their screw lock seats). Another is a tiny "R.K. Bolt" stamp on the mid and butt ferrule welts and sized appropriately for each. This rod boasts chestnut color tempered cane in a 2 opposed node pattern construction. Chrome snake guides wrapped brown with yellow edges. Carbide stripper. The ferrules are wrapped all the way to the welts. The keeper is one flat right and has a band of red and yellow edging. Lettered "7'6" 3 1/8oz #1808" on the shaft. 5 1/2" 11 cork western-style grip. Polished shop-made aluminum up lock screw lock and a mortised, varnished zebra wood spacer for a reel seat. Brass and cork ferrule plugs. Red cloth bag. Aluminum rod tube with data sticker. Bob's rods have been very undervalued given the quality of the construction and workmanship, though it finally seems that people are catching on and his prices going up. Looking at this rod, it's easy to see why!
