A very nice R.L. Winston bamboo fly rod, 7’, 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. Serial #1972, an early Montana rod made by Tom Morgan and Glenn Brackett. 3.3 oz on my scale. Very nice D.F. action. Modestly used condition. Slight hand soiling to the grip and the start of a casting crack at the ferrule wrap of only one tip. The rod is straight and the ferrules fits are smooth. Wheatstraw color oven tempered cane with nodes in the three up pattern. The main wraps are light yellow with maroon edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip tops. Superb varnish. The stripping guide is a SRMC carbide and the snake guides and tip tops are chrome plated. The grip is 6 1/2” long sculpted to a full wells profile. The reel seat is all cork with a nickel silver ring and pocket cap. The rod packs into a red cloth bag and maroon anodized aluminum rod tube with brass fixtures. The "R.L. Winston rod co., Twin Bridges, Mont." sticker is 100% original. A very sweet little rod!
