A nice RK Bolt bamboo fly rod, 8'2", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for what feels to me like a #4 line. This is one of Robert's recently developed Guide models. Serial #2206. The rod weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale. Pleasant medium full flexing action. The rod appears to be mint or perhaps lawn cast only at most. I could find no meaningful signs of use. The rod is nice and straight. Medium wheatstraw colored cane done in a two-opposed node configuration. Nice varnish. The rod is wrapped in the characteristic brown/yellow Howells combination with the ferrules overwrapped as well. The rod sports a hook keeper and a carbide stripper, with chrome snakes and tip tops. The female ferrule has Bob's makers mark stamped on the welt and comes with knurled brass-and-cork ferrule plug. The 5 1/2" grip is shaped to a western profile. The reel seat is an aluminum downlocking screwlock over a handsome piece of mortised and varnished zebrawood. The cap has a stamp depicting a cross section of fluted hollow rod section. The rod packs into an orange bag and an aluminum tube with gold-anodized aluminum fittings as well as the data sticker affixed to the outside.
