A Ron Kusse “Elf” model bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #3106. 3.7 ounces. Used, though hard to tell just how much. I can see three separate reel foot impressions on the seat and a hint of grip soiling but no casting cracks at the ferrule wraps. Fast dry fly action. Matte impregnated style finish. The wraps are brown with a heavy epoxy finish. The stripper looks more like amber color glass rather than agate. Chrome snake guides and tip tops. The blank is flamed with darker patches here and there. The step ferrules are polished bright with the female having a tiny “Kusse” stamp in an oval cartouche. The grip is a 5 1/2" long cigar with a tiny Leonard style check. The cap and ring seat is polished bright and the butt cap is stamped “The Elf” in a cartouche and opposite “Ron Kusse, Maker” in a cartouche. The burl seat may be impregnated as well. The rod comes in a dark gray cloth bag with a stiffener and Ron's hang tag with data along with a brushed aluminum tube with brass accents.
