Scott Rod Co. -- G904/2 Graphite Rod

For sale here is a Scott Rod Co. -- Model G904-2 -- a 9' 4wt 2 pc. graphite rod. Serial no. 12400. Excellent condition. 

The Scott G-Series rods are widely hailed as some of the greatest graphite rods ever made and unlike many graphite rods they seem to be appreciating in value as years go by. The rod features an unsanded blank characteristic of Scott rods. Maroon guide wraps. The ferrules feature gray wraps with a maroon spiral pattern within. The winding check and tip-top are maroon with white tipping. Bright guides. U-shaped hook-keeper. The script on the rod written in bright red remains clean and bold. The spigot ferrules fit together nice and tight as they should with a 1/4" gap to allow for wear over time. The spigot is fully intact void of any cracks. Red witness marks. Cigar style grip with varnished burl cork nose. Bright aluminum cap and ring reel seat over a mortised walnut spacer. There is a bit of light wear to the rim of the butt cap. The rod weighs in at a lean 2.45 oz.

The 9' 4wt is considered by many to the standout rod in the G series. The action is slower than modern graphite allowing for the utmost finesse and delicacy while retaining the speed and power inherent to graphite. The long length allows for excellent mending and line control as well as superb roll casts.
