For sale here is a Gary Soeffker bamboo fly rod -- 6'3" 3/2 for a 2-3 weight line. Made in 1990. The rod is in excellent original condition. All sections are full length and straight except for a set in one tip. This is a very fine example of Gary's work in the early 90's with stunningly dark shafts, golden nodes, and a generously swelled butt. The rod features honey-toned wraps. Chestnut with honey and burgundy tipping at the winding check. The ferrules are wrapped in chestnut. The script remains clean and bold. Cigar grip 5 1/2" in length with a slight wells taper at the rear. Up-locking nickel silver reel seat machined by Gary over a beautifully figured mortised burl wood spacer. The oxidized Swiss-style ferrules are size 13/64 and 9/64 with an excellent fit. The rod weighs 3.45 oz. Although marked as a 2wt, I feel it excels better with a 3wt line. The action is on the fast side of medium-fast. Includes original bag and tube.
A great pack rod for hungry high-mountain cutties or brookies and will definitely handle bigger fish.
