For sale here is a Bob Summers Model 8689 -- 8'6" 3/3 8-9wt bamboo rod. Serial no. 10397. The rod is in excellent original condition though there are a few minor chips and scuffs in the varnish. One of the tip sections was cracked and repaired by Mr. Summers with a 1 3/8" wrap between the first and second guides down from the tip-top. At this time he also made a third tip section. All sections are full length and straight.
The rod features beautiful mottle-flamed cane with caramel wraps and black tipping. The script remains clean and bold with the serial number written on all sections. Garrison-style hook keeper. Reverse-half wells grip ventilated similar to a Paul H. Young rod. The cork is mildly soiled but remains quite smooth. Aluminum up-locking reel seat over a mortised cedar burl spacer, 1 1/2" cork fighting butt. There is a bit of wear to the sliding ring. The ferrules are size 16/64 with an excellent fit. Includes aluminum ferrule plug tethered to the bag. The rod weighs 6.15 oz. The action is medium fast. Includes original labeled bag and original tube.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
