For sale here is a terrific Bob Taylor Model 239-3 bamboo rod -- 6'9" 2/2 for a 3 weight line. Serial no. 321. The rod is in excellent+ original condition showing only slight evidence of use. All sections are full length and straight.
Another example of why Bob Taylor is still one of the best bamboo rod makers in the world. The rod features handsome flame tempered cane with a 2 x 2 node spacing. The wraps are bronze-colored with Chinese red tipping. The male ferrules and winding check are wrapped in bronze with red, gold, and burgundy tipping. The varnish gives the bright guides a bronzed appearance. Blued agate stripping guide. Elegant sightly swelled butt. Ring hook keeper. The classic cigar grip measures 5 1/2", and remains very smooth with only slight soiling. Blued nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a mortised cork spacer. The butt cap features "R.D. TAYLOR MAKER" stamped on the front. There is a bit of very slight wear to the rim of the butt cap. The blued step-down ferrules have a perfect fit. The rod weighs in at a svelte 2 1/2 oz. The action is just slightly on the faster side of medium-fast and quite smooth, capable of considerable finesse. Perfect for delicate close-in casts to spooky fish. Thanks in part to the swelled butt, the rod does just as well should you need to reach out to a distant riser. Includes original bag and tube with a heavy canvas tube cover.
