A nice Thomas and Thomas Paradigm fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #5. Weighs 4.3 ounces. Serial #3008. Impregnated model. Good used condition with the grip slightly ridged from cleaning. Medium full flexing action. Dark wheat straw oven temper cane leaving the three up node pattern nodes slightly darker than the surrounding cane. The wraps are light yellow with brown and black edges at the keeper and back edges at the ferrules and tip tops. Carbide stripper and black snake guides. The ferrules are a collared swiss style, oxidized black and lack the later small logo stamp on the female. There is a slight amount of brassing to the edges of the ferrules and the cap and ring hardware. The grip is 5 1/2" long and styled in a blunt cigar with the maximum diameter at the boundary of the third and fourth cork from the top. The reel seat is a flatted walnut with a nice coat of varnish and a few foot impressions from the slide band. The cap is roller died with "Thomas and Thomas, Makers", however it is not in a cartouche. Packs in a tan poplin bag with a stiffener. Aluminum rod tube with a brass collar and top.
