For sale here is a stunning limited edition rod made by Thomas & Thomas in 1985 --“The Amabilis”. 8’, 3/2, 5 wt., 4.9 oz. Less than 20 of these rods were made. T&T developed this commemorative rod to pay tribute to Arundinaria Amabilis, meaning literally "lovely bamboo", and referred to in the trade as "Tonkin". The reel seat has a burled pidgeon walnut insert with hand engraved nickel silver cap and ring hardware. The ferrules are also hand engraved. The engraving was done for T&T by an Italian gunsmith. The entire rod is exquisitely finished. Scripted in white ink on the distinctive T&T swelled butt section is “#5”, “The Amabilis – 1985 – Ltd. Edition”.Each section also has “#5” inked on it. Cigar grip. High gloss varnish over highly seasoned pre-embargo cane. Fawn silk wraps edged with dusty plum. Progressive dry fly action. Comes with its original stitched leather tube embossed with the T&T logo and its original protective rod bag. The tube has hand-engraved brass caps on both ends. This rod remains in mint condition.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
