A Tim Bedford bamboo fly rod, 7'8", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 or #6 line. Serial #7816. 4 ounces. Medium fast to fast action. 1978 manufacture date inscribed on rod. Tim was a lifelong friend of Lyle Dickerson and purchased his rod shop when Dickerson decided to retire. Little or no use on the rod, the grip is clean and there are no casting cracks at the ferrules. Light wheatstraw color cane with a 3-up node pattern. The main wraps are a gold/mustard with no edges. The stripper is carbide and the snakes and tip tops are chrome plated. The ferrules are oxidized grey and the female needs some cleaning to fit properly. The ferrules are in the swiss style. One tip could use a bit of a straighten in the upper third though it's not too bad. The grip is 7" long and shaped to a western weighted to the uppermost quarter of the grip (the grip has some ridging not due to cleaning but possibly from compression during glue up). No front cork check. The reel seat has a nicely varnished spacer of a tan colored burl but it has been turned on the shorter side and the customer may have trouble fitting a reel with long feet. The seat is a downlocking screwlock with “TAB” engraved on the bottom of the pocket cap. The rod packs into a cloth bag and aluminum tube.
