A nice Tom Moran fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #5 line. 4.9 ounces. Serial #965/11. Near mint condition. There is a cosmetic casting crack at the butt female wrap, though I can find no other signs of use. Very straight and with excellent ferrule fits. Medium fast action. Flamed cane with light, very small pressed nodes in a three up configuration. Very superior, high quality varnish. The main wraps are a very light tan and with one turn of black. Copper at the ferrules. The swiss ferrules are oxidized and retain 100% original oxidation. Carbide stripper and handmade snake guides. The grip is 6" long and composed of 1/4" corks. The grip is cigar shaped and taper from the back third to the front. The reel seat is a downlocking all nickel silver to a nickel silver butt cap. The mortised spacer is a smokey veined Turkish walnut. The rod is outfitted with a wood and cork ferrule plug. The rod bag cloth is olive colored with a pull tab. The rod tube is leather with a detachable top.
