For sale here is a wonderful Tom Morgan Rodsmiths graphite fly rod - 7'9" 2/1 3wt. Made in 2007. The rod is in excellent+ condition with moderate soiling to the grip being the only detractor.
The rod features a deep burgundy sanded blank with matching wraps and fine gold tipping at the winding check, female ferrule, and tip-top. Bright guides. Agate stripping guide. The gold script remains in flawless condition. Along with the rod information, the original owner's name is also written. The ferrule fit is snug and smooth as it should be. The female features a nickel silver collar to aid in strength. Octagonal nickel silver winding check. the reverse half wells grip measures 5 7/8" in length with moderate soiling; the cork remains quite smooth. Handsome nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a mortised burlwood spacer. The butt cap features the TMR logo surrounded by a brass ring. The rod weighs in at 2.45 oz. The action is wonderful, on the faster side of medium-fast. The rod is crisp yet smooth capable of the utmost delicacy and finesse. The butt does possess a bit of backbone should the wind pick up or a larger fish is hooked. The length provides for excellent mending and line control.
The original rod bag and tube are stunning. The bag is made of a satin-like material in a plum color with a black faux suede lining and paisley piping around the edge. The tube is a heavy octagonal aluminum with a hammer-tone finish also in a plum color. The cap is quite handsome with knurled edges and a brass Tom Morgan Rodsmiths medallion set in the top. The tube is housed in a heavy black cotton cover with an adjustable drawstring and piping at the bottom to match the rod bag.
