A very nice Walt Carpenter Browntone "Fairy" bamboo fly rod, 7', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #3 or #4 line. Serial #2013. The rod weighs 2.7 ounces. Medium action. Mint unfished condition with the paper and gum strips still on the grip. Very fine delicate tips. The bamboo shafts are flamed with light nodes. The tips are mirrored. Brown main wraps with black edges on all, and an extra band of yellow and purple at the keeper and ferrules. Agate stripper and black snake guides. The step ferrules are oxidized jet black. The cork grip is 5 1/4" long and turned into a medium cigar profile. The slide band seat has at least one coat of varnish on it and the wood is an impressive smokey walnut. The cap and ring are oxidized jet black. The cap sports the die stamp "W.E. Carpenter, Maker". One tip has a slight downward set coming out of the ferrule. The tan cloth bag has Walt's hang tag. The rod tube is brushed aluminum with brass fixtures and comes with a maroon overbag.
