A very nice salmon reel by William Olson of Murray, Utah. 4" (100mm) in diameter, with a 30mm spool width. Disc Drag model. Serial #028. Set up for RHW. This reel weighs 14.7 oz with the backing still on the spool. This reel is near mint, and the only sign of use that I could find is a tiny, almost imperceptible, scratch on the bottom of the frame. A very well built offering from one of the new generation of classic reel makers. All black anodized frame, spool, and drag adjuster. The foot and serpentine handle are polished. Nickel silver counterweight. In a nod to the House of Hardy Cascapedia reels Olson's model has 2 nickel silver medallions inset on the crank side plate. One states "William R Olsen, Maker, Murray, Utah" and the other ' 4" D , no 028, Topher Browne'. Topher is, of course, a well-known author and salmon fisher (my understanding is that Mr. Olson can punch out the medallion and replace it with one for the new owner). The drag system on this reel adjusts smoothly from very light to very heavy, thanks to the sealed disc system which utilizes carbon on titanium. The reel is spooled with backing but no line. The reel comes with an Arnie Mason leather bag. A nice opportunity here to grab a reel without the significant waiting time that Mr. Olson has generated for new reel orders.
