For sale here is a San Francisco-era R.L. Winston 9' 2/1 6-7wt bamboo rod with a marked weight of 5 oz. Serial no. 8509. Excellent- fishable condition. The rod at some time received a light varnish overcoat and the application seeped into the prior cracks in the varnish over the wraps and stained the wraps. This is only an aesthetic issue. The rod is full length with very slight sets in both sections (easily straightened).
Bronze wraps and burgundy tipping at the winding check, signature wrap, ferrules, and tip-top. The script remains clean and bold. Bakelite winding check. Full wells grip 6" in length with moderate soiling. There is a bit of light ridging towards the top. Classic Winston Bakelite reel seat. There is a small crack in the collar above the cap. The Duronze ferrules are size 16/64 with a pleasing fit. The rod weighs in at 5.10 oz. on our digital scale. The action is medium-fast. Includes the original bag and tube with label mostly intact. Despite the issues, this is a great fishing rod ready for the water.

All items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
